The Magistrate Court at the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service has remanded into custody John Odartey Lamptey, alias Nii Adjei, and two others in connection with a viral domestic violence video that has sparked public outrage.

In a statement signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Lamptey who was captured in the video physically assaulting a woman believed to be his wife, has been charged with Physical Assault, contrary to Sections 1(b)(i) and 3(2) of the Domestic Violence Act, 2007 (Act 732).

The other two suspects, Louis Odartey Lamptey and Grace Kushie Lamptey, were also remanded after allegedly attempting to attack a female tenant they suspected of recording and circulating the video.
