COVID-19: KNUST student educates community on preventive measures

With the novel coronavirus rampaging nations, many countries have made it a point to protect their citizens by educating them and putting in place policies to guard against the spread of the virus.

Some private individuals and organizations have also augmented the government’s efforts in numerous ways.

Doing his own bit to create awareness and educate members of his community on how to guard against the COVID-19 pandemic is a 4th year Doctor of Optometry student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Samuel Sesah.

Samuel makes it a point to go about his community on a regular basis to educate drivers, hawkers, and street kids on the proper usage and maintenance of face masks and other preventive measures.

“The fight against this pandemic is not one bequeathed to governments only. But citizens alike have a huge role to play in kicking the virus away and I for one will keep on doing my best to keep myself and my community safe,” he mentioned.

He furthered that it will amount to nothing if he and his family are safe whilst his community disregards these preventive measures as the virus is communal.

The community activist went on to appeal to citizens to contribute their quota in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The virus does not move, humans move. If you have nothing doing outside your home, stay indoors,” he cautioned.
