Member of Parliament for the Kumbungu Constituency in the Northern Region, Ras Mubarak has insisted that the government of the day is inefficient and has failed in prioritizing the needs of Ghanaians amidst the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to him, it is a complete waste of money at a critical time like this for government to even build and launch a COVID-19 tracking application.

He made this statement on Happy98.9FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’; “Instead of feeding and educating Ghanaians as COVID-19 rampages the country, the government has wasted money to make and even launch a tracker with a concert which is a complete waste of our resources,” he said.

On his authority the government has missed a lot of its priorities. He noted that some Ghanaians still have the misconception that the virus is only affecting the rich and those who have travelled out of the country. And that the needed investment now was for educating the citizenry and not wasting money on an App which is only a duplication of the job the Ministry of Health is already doing. “Some Ghanaians are not obeying social distancing because the education has not sunk in but the government is obsessed with some high flying ideas which cannot be achieved,” he stated categorically.

The Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia launched Ghana COVID-19 Tracker App yesterday. The App is meant to provide regular updates to Ghanaians on the situation.

The App will also afford the public the opportunity to check for COVID-19 symptoms.

The ceremony came with a virtual concert headlined by dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, Kuami Eugene and Fancy Gadam, among others.
