Ranking Member on the Security Committee in Parliament and former Deputy Minister for the Interior, James Agalga has called to question the credibility of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

His doubts stem from a couple of contradictions the Minister made with regard to the $100million governmemt has approached the International Monetary Fund and World Bank for, towards the fight against the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

He reminded listeners of Happy 98.9FM’s Happy Morning Show of the President’s address at the earlier stages of the coronavirus outbreak, where he announced a fund of 100 million U.S. dollars for the fight against COVID-19. But the Finance Minister addressing the floor of parliament few days later said there was no money available, and the government was now going to the IMF and World Bank for the said amount to fight the virus.

According to him, yesterday on the floor of parliament, the Finance Minister realizing his blunder has shifted the goal post again.
“He shifted the goal post again yesterday when he realised he had contracdicted his boss. He told us the 100 million dollars the President spoke about is here. We don’t know if the IMF and World Bank has brought the money or it is as the President said earlier,” he said.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Gunsa North questioned the veracity of the Minister’s claim with reference to his statement yesterday and some others in the past. “There’s been a lot of contradictions by the Finance Minister and now his credibility is in doubt”.
