The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) in Ghana has blacklisted over 40 rogue loan apps for threats and blackmail.
In a statement issued by the CSA it mentioned that these apps, operating outside the country’s legal framework, offer quick microloans but employ aggressive tactics to recover repayments, including harassment, blackmail, and public shaming.
Some notable offenders include:
– Miniloan
– Devtage Loan
– Mix Loan
– Ozzy Money-Cash
– Plus Cash Arrow
– Cash Arrow
– FundsCredit
– Lever Credit
– Getloan
– Upper Loan
– Kcash
– Bestloan
– Gcash
CSA has received 377 complaints from January to May 2025, a significant increase from 228 cases reported throughout 2024.
“These apps operate without legal backing and often disregard consumer protection laws. Engaging with them exposes users to serious risks, including data breaches, harassment, and financial loss,” part of the statement read.
The authority is urging the public to exercise caution when using online loan services and to verify the credibility of digital lenders through approved channels.
