Clubs in Ghana are really suffering – Kurt Okraku

Veteran football administrator Kofi Manu, popularly known as ‘Blue Boy’ has waded into the ongoing discussions surrounding the upcoming elections of the Ghana Football Association to elect a new leadership.

After serving more than three years in office, Kurt Okraku’s reign could come to an end in the coming months if his mandate is not renewed.

In October, the football community is expected to go to Congress to hold its presidential elections.

However, Manu, who is well-versed with the rules of the game in Ghana, believes the GFA’s current leadership under Kurt has breached the statutes of the Association and is seeking to bend the rules in their favor in the upcoming elections.

“ Article 53 of the GFA statutes talks about institutional independence and captures the Elections Committee as part of the independent committees of the FA. So why is the Executive Council executing the duties of the Elections Committee? The current leadership of the FA does not obey the rules of the Association. Processes before the elections are supposed to begin a month before Congress meets. Haven’t all these regulations been violated ? “ he said on Happy FM.

Meanwhile, the (GFA) has proposed an increment in the filing fee of the GFA presidential position from GHC 5,000 to GHC 50,000.

The Regional Football Association (RFA) nomination form will now cost GHC 10,000. Other positions within the GFA structure, such as the RFA slot on the Executive Council, District Chairman, and District Executive Council, will also see adjustments of GHC 5,000, GHC 1,000, and GHC 5,000, respectively.
