#DecemberinGH: Marketing Ghana should be a lifestyle - Chief Executive, K-Archy & Company

Chief Executive of law and management consultancy firm, K-Archy & Company, Kwame Acheampong Boateng ,has charged Ghanaians to exhibit Ghanaian indigenous culture as way of life to the diaspora and the rest of the world.

At the launch of the ‘December in GH’ first batch of listed events for 2023, he stated that Ghana has transcended from the level of attracting patronizers to a global force through the celebration of African heritage and upholding Africa through December in Gh under the auspices of ‘Beyond The Return Initiative’. “We started from Year of Return I believe the idea was to attract attention from the diaspora it was something good; now that attention has been attracted.” .

Mr. Boateng mentioned that many Ghanaians carry the wrong notion of ‘December in GH’, seeing it as a compiled range of events lined up to enjoy in the festive season right from November to January of the following year. Implying that many industries in Ghana have made showing what is African exclusively for that period.

The Steering Committee Member for ‘Beyond The Return’ initiative begged to differ. He believes that the average Ghanaian has the innate ability to crystalize this seasonal exhibition of Ghanaian culture and make it a lifestyle. “Now looking at it perception wise, we should move from this being just an event to be a way of life and a way of living among us.”

This he said, would create a distinct synergy between Ghana and the rest of the world.

He urged the media to change the dominating perception of Ghanaians about ‘Beyond the Return’ and the imminent ‘December in GH’ events.

Beyond the Return is a ten year initiative, themed “A decade of African Renaissance”. It is the follow-up-to the successful ‘Year of Return’ campaign in 2019 that invited the global African diaspora to visit Ghana.

Beyond The Return is upheld strongly by seven pillars which are geared towards engagement and building strong relations with the diaspora community.

‘December in GH’ promises to bring about a constant atmosphere of African heritage and Ghanaian unity through the events that have been endorsed under the alignment of at least one pillar of Beyond The Return; Experience Ghana, Celebrate Ghana, Invest in Ghana, Brand Ghana, Give Back Ghana, Diaspora Pathways to Ghana, and Promote Pan-African heritage and Innovation.
