Minister for Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, has promised Ghanaians that captain Andrew Dede Ayew will lead the Black Stars to win the AFCON and bring the cup to Ghana

The last time the Black Stars won the Africa Cup of Nations was in 1982. But the Minister for Youth and Sports is hopeful and believes the team can end the continental trophy drought in Egypt.

Dede Ayew led the Ghana Black Satellites to victory in 2009 U-20 World Cup in Egypt after beating Brazil on penalties in the finals.

However Isaac Kwame Asiamah believes Dede Ayew can replicate the same fate for the senior national team in 2019 AFCON in Egypt

“My capable capable, I was with him in Egypt in 2009. I saw teamwork in him so we won the U-20 World Cup in Egypt and we are going to do it again”

“We are bringing the cup once again and so teamwork is critical in this endeavor. I have the assurance from this team that they will do whatever they can to rise the image of Ghana. I can assure you that they are going to subdue their individual egos and die for mother Ghana because Ghanaians are thirsty for the cup. We are calling Ghanaians to pray for the team, support them to ensure that on our return, we come with the cup,” Asiamah stated.

Nana Addo yesterday hosted the Black Stars to a farewell dinner as the team is expected to pitch camp in Dubai from June 1.
