Y-Accra reigns supreme in YFM Clash of the DJs

Ghana’s most entertaining urban radio station, YFM last week brought the entire Ghana to a standstill with the maiden edition of YFM Clash of the DJs.

The competition aimed at giving exposure and also encouraging a healthy competition amongst DJs of the Y-triangle (Y107.9FM –Accra, Y102.5FM-Kumasi and Y97.9FM-Takoradi) has received high acclamation from Def Jam’s corporate executive DJ RAB.

DJ RAB who graced the virtual YFM Clash of the DJs competition acknowledged that the DJs across the brand were all top notch and he was quite impressed at YFM for pulling off such a grand event.

Speaking about the event in an interview on Happy98.9FM’s ‘Showbiz Xtra’, the music influencer said, “It was difficult for us to judge. All the DJs did very well manipulating their sounds. Their flips were exceptional and YFM Accra didn’t have it as easy as they thought making it more beautiful.”

DJ RAB acknowledged that his highlight for the competition was the use of hype men by the various DJs. He indicated that it was real nice as hype men also knew their job and neither “over did nor under did it.”

In his opinion the event was an overall success and advised that in the next edition, a countdown clock should be inserted below screens of viewers.

YFM has obviously made a statement with the YFM Clash of the DJs and other stations may replicate the concept but the originality can never be taken from the brand.
