Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, Shamima Muslim, has received a petition from a group of citizens led by Apostle Abraham Lincoln, who marched to the Jubilee House to demand the removal of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng from office.
The demonstrators said they were exercising their constitutional right to protest and called for Mr. Agyebeng’s dismissal over what they describe as dissatisfaction with his leadership at the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
Receiving the petition on behalf of the President, Ms. Muslim welcomed the group and commended them for channelling their grievances through lawful and peaceful means.
She stressed that government remains committed to protecting citizens’ rights to free expression and peaceful assembly, noting that the President has consistently assured Ghanaians that they can speak out without fear of intimidation.
Ms. Muslim assured the demonstrators that the petition would be duly forwarded to the President for the necessary consideration.
