The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has taken a swipe at his counterpart, John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), characterizing his previous administration as an era of ineffectiveness and lack of progress, describing his administration as an ‘akonfem’ era.

At the Ofie Mega Walk in Akropong on Saturday August 3, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia addressed a gathering of party supporters, stressing that Ghana is on the cusp of a digital revolution, not an era of stagnation. He outlined his vision for transforming the country, highlighting key initiatives such as digitizing customs operations to curb corruption and simplify passport applications, ushering in a new era of efficiency and progress.

Dr. Bawumia showcased the advantages of digitalization, using passport applications as a prime example. He explained that with digital technology, the process will become effortless and efficient, eliminating the need for tedious paperwork and long wait times, making it easier for citizens to access this essential service. He took a swipe at his opponent, Mahama, suggesting that his limited tenure would render him unaccountable to the Ghanaian people.

In contrast, Dr. Bawumia pledged to serve two terms, guaranteeing continuity and accountability. He appealed to supporters to elect him, stressing that Ghana requires a leader with innovative ideas, unwavering integrity, and a commitment to best practices to drive the nation’s development forward.
