The National Identification Authority (NIA) has cautioned the public against assisting foreign nationals to unlawfully acquire the Ghana Card, describing such acts as illegal and punishable under Ghanaian law.
In a public notice issued on Monday, October 6, the Authority emphasized that foreign nationals who need an identification card to conduct business legally in Ghana must apply for the Non-Citizen Ghana Card, not the regular Citizens’ Ghana Card.
The NIA warned that Ghanaians who aid or provide false information to help foreigners obtain the Citizen Ghana Card will face the full force of the law when caught.
“Ghanaians are strongly cautioned not to assist foreigners to obtain a Citizen Ghana Card with false information,” the statement read.
The Authority further urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious registration activities.
