Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Chairman of the National Elections Security Task Force, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has appealed to Ghanaians to remain calm and safeguard the nation’s identity in the upcoming elections.

He said he is working closely with colleagues from the national elections security task force to make sure that this election is goes down in history as one of the best.

“We assure the generality of Ghanaians that they should relax and be proud of themselves that this one will be better than all the elections that have passed, if only they’ll help us to play our role as we’re doing ours you also do yours” he said.

He made this comment at the signing of the 4th Presidential Elections Peace Pact held in Accra .

He disclosed that the force has put in place a very detailed deployment strategy at polling stations, collation centers, rapid response and post election activities in terms of the security arrangements for the investiture of the next government.

IGP also indicated that the police service is ready and very committed but will need help both in the form of prayer and Ghanaians playing their roles as individuals, political parties and as stakeholders actively involved in the process.

“So at the end of the day everybody will be satisfied with the outcome of the elections and everybody will accept the process. Don’t let Ghana fade away because if Ghana fades away we fade away with it rather, let us do our best and fade away because life is a stage and when we show up at the stage at a point we have to give way so that the next generation will follow and Ghana will continue and it’ll be said in history that we did not disappoint” he emphasized.
