The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on party members to forgive one another for grievances stemming from the recent campaign season, stressing that unity is critical as the party reorganises for the future.
Speaking at the National Thanksgiving Service held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Sunday, February 15, 2026, Dr. Bawumia urged party faithful to set aside any hurt caused by heated exchanges during the campaign period.
“On this day as we celebrate and give thanks together, I want to ask all of us, from the bottom of my heart, that we forgive each other for some of the unpalatable things we may have said during the campaign,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia underscored the need for reconciliation within the party as it prepares for the next political cycle, noting that internal cohesion will be key to its future success.
He expressed optimism about ongoing efforts to rebuild relationships, saying he had been encouraged by steps taken by members to reconnect after the elections.
“Though I know the exercise of healing is not yet completed, I believe we have started well, and I commend all patriots for the steps taken so far,” he added.
