Former Government Spokesperson on Governance and Security, Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, has called on residents of Akwatia to participate massively in the upcoming by-election scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Speaking after the deployment of 600 security personnel to the constituency, he assured voters that the heightened security is meant to protect them, not intimidate.
“No one should be afraid to come out and vote. Do not be intimidated at all.The presence of the security and the Electoral Commission is to ensure that the election is incident-free and peaceful because of the history of past incidents in Akwatia.”
Dr. Boakye-Danquah also urged constituents to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Solomon Asumadu.
“It is important that you come and vote for the New Patriotic Party candidate. The high presence of security is for your peace and safety. Vote massively for the NPP candidate, and let’s ensure that Akwatia remains blue.”
The seat became vacant following the death of MP Ernest Kumi.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has reaffirmed the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to maintaining peace throughout the election process.
