WAEC to release 2025 BECE private candidate results today The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for private candidates will be released by the end of today, Friday, September 5. Speaking at a media briefing, WAEC’s Public Relations Officer, John Kapi, confirmed the release timeline and shared key statistics. “A total of 1,661 private candidates, 858 males and 803 females, registered for this year’s BECE. This marks a 19.49% increase compared to last year,” he stated. According to John Kapi, the provisional results for school candidates were released earlier on August 23, with 603,328 students participating from 20,395 schools. WAEC noted a 5.99% rise in school candidate numbers. Kapi also addressed examination integrity, saying, “Candidates who infringed on the rules governing the conduct of the examination were appropriately sanctioned following investigations and the advice of the Council’s relevant committee.”

The Personal Aide for Manhyia Chief Of Staff, Nana Kwame Aboagye Mensah, says Asante Kotoko Executive Chairman Dr Kwame Kyei deserves to chair the Board due to his selfless and loyal administration of the club for the past three years.

Dr Kwame Kyei’s administration of the club was recently subjected to a review by a three-member committee set up by Manhyia.

The committee led by Professor Lydia Nkansah has been tasked to review and investigate the affairs of Asante Kotoko and also make recommendations.

Asante Kotoko were also mandated to constitute a Board by the GFA Club Licensing Committee per the club licensing regulations.

Manhyia had requested for an extension from the GFA to constitute the Board.

Nana Kwame Aboagye Mensah in an interview with Ghana’s number one Sports Station, Happy 98.9FM explained why Dr Kwame Kyei was named Board chairman despite his tenure under review by the Committee.

“Dr Kwame Kyei has shown beyond a reasonable doubt that he can do the job that is why we want to retain him. He is loyal and with a little guidance can be able to do the job”, he told Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy 98.9FM.

He explained the absence of the supporters leadership on the Board, “We are still waiting for the committee to advise us on institutional representation on the Board”

“We want Kotoko to look like a professional club. So we are planning to invest at Adako Jachie. We want to follow best practices done by bigger clubs such Manchester City, Real Madrid and others. So we intend to begin from somewhere,”he added.
