Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Omane Boamah, has criticized the IT and Statistics departments of Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC), calling them the weakest links ahead of the 2024 elections.

He pointed out various issues, including incorrect figures previously corrected by the NDC, improper use of Corel DRAW for arithmetic, and frequent network failures during registration.

He noted that the EC’s failure to address these avoidable issues emanating from the IT and Statistics outfits suggest it’s deliberate.

Dr. Boamah in a Facebook post on Monday July 29, 2024, reassured Ghanaians that the NDC will always provide accurate figures to counteract EC errors and urged vigilance at polling stations and collation centers.

He emphasized that despite concerns over IT transmission, Ghana’s elections are manual, and any errors at polling stations or collation centers will persist unless challenged.

“Folks, don’t be diverted by the ongoing IT transmission fear mongering! Because Ghana’s elections is manual. If wrong figures are captured at the polling stations or at the collation centres, the same wrong figures will be transmitted, if not CHALLENGED,” he wrote.

He encouraged party members to stay alert and assured that the NDC will manage the results process effectively, addressing any issues with the EC as needed.

READ FULL STATEMENT BELOW:

I submit to you that the IT and Statistics outfits of the Electoral Commission of Ghana remain the weakest links going into the 2024 elections.

Think about the numerous EC’s incorrect figures that the National Elections and IT Directorate of the NDC has corrected over the past few months.

Think about the inappropriate use of CorelDRAW for arithmetic.

Think about the recurring network failures that has afflicted registration exercises.

Failure for the EC to fix these avoidable problems emanating from the EC’s IT and Statistics outfits suggest it’s deliberate.

But they’ll fail!

Our CORRECT figures will always be available to CORRECT the ERRORS of the Electoral Commission.

Folks, don’t be diverted by the ongoing IT transmission fear mongering! Because Ghana’s elections is manual.

If wrong figures are captured at the polling stations or at the collation centres, the same wrong figures will be transmitted, if not CHALLENGED.

Yours is to be vigilant at the Polling Stations and at the collation centres.

Leave the rest to us to battle it out with the EC elegantly and if need be in-elegantly!

Let me assure you: We will collate our results on time every step of the way.

And we shall relay the results to the next line in the chain within record time.

We shall protect your votes!

Vote John Dramani Mahama for well-paying jobs through the 24-hour economy initiative 👏
