
The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has made a selective lifting of the ban placed on social gatherings.
In his 10th address to the nation, the President noted that some statutory bodies will be given the go ahead to conduct their activities starting from June, 2020.
“The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Electoral Commission (EC) will be allowed to conduct its activities. The activities of the National Identification Authority which was halted will also be resumed,” he stated.
The President added that, with the lifiting of the ban on social gatherings for some selctive institutions which will be done done in phases starting June 5, 2020, all beneficiary institutions are required to respect all COVID-19 protocols.
“Regulatory bodies will be going around to ensure all preventive measures and directives are being adhered to. Institutions which fail tp respect these directives will have their operations closed down by the security agencies.
The ban on gatherings for churches, schools and some selected institutions have been lifted with some conditions whilst the closure of nightclubs and the ban on contact sports is still in effect.
