Former Member of Parliament for Manso Nkwanta, Dr. Joseph Albert Quarm, has called on Ghanaians to use this year’s election as a crucial moment to safeguard the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.

According to him, the introduction of Free SHS has provided students from rural areas, who previously had little hope of enrolling in top-tier schools, the chance to access quality education. He credited this opportunity to the Nana Addo-Bawumia-led administration’s commitment to the policy.

Dr. Quarm in an interview with the media highlighted a statement made by a former president, who once claimed he would not invest GH₵ 2 billion in Free SHS. He argued that this indicates a potential cancellation of the policy if that individual returns to power.

He urged Ghanaians to make a decisive choice in the upcoming election—either to protect the Free SHS policy or risk voting for someone who might abolish it.
