EC debunks viral video of alleged voters register, urges Police investigation

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that the by-election in Ejisu, triggered by the passing of John Kumah on March 7, 2024, will take place on April 30, 2024.

The 45-year-old MP succumbed to a brief illness, leaving behind a wife and six children.

On Saturday, April 6, 2024, all nine aspirants vying to contest the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary primary in the constituency were given clearance by the vetting committee.

The NPP opened nominations on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, and all nine had filed at the time it closed on Thursday, April 4.

The NPP is anticipated to select a parliamentary candidate for the constituency on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

Thus far, no other political party has indicated interest in the by-election. The NDC has mentioned that it is still deliberating on whether to join the by-election.
