The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has issued a stern warning to all chiefs under his jurisdiction, declaring that any traditional authority found employing land guards will be destooled.
He made the declaration during a courtesy visit by the outgoing and incoming Ashanti Regional Police Commanders at the Manhyia Palace.
“Land guards are not countenanced. I will destool any chief who engages their services,” Otumfuo cautioned, addressing the newly appointed Regional Police Commander, DCOP Osei Akoto.
The Asantehene urged the police to intensify efforts to combat armed robbery and maintain law and order in the region. “Leave chieftaincy-related issues and land disputes to me, but do your best to eradicate armed robbers within your jurisdiction,” he emphasized.
