EPA advises Ghanaians to protect natural resources

EPA advises Ghanaians to protect natural resources

The Environmental Protection agency under the Ministry of Environment Science and Technology as part of its annual sensitization programme to educate Ghanaians on the need to protect the environment and natural resources has launched the 2024 edition of the week-long programme.

The theme for this year’s Programme is: Greening Education, changing Our Mindset, Changing our lifestyle. The programme is scheduled to start from Monday 14th October to Friday 18th October.

Dr. Emmanuel Tachie Obeng the acting Director of Climate Change Unit of the Environmental Protection Agency engaging the media ahead of the programme stated that, this year’s programme is to create awareness on Climate Change and Economy.

He indicated that the theme for this year’s climate change week is to educate all Ghanaians on the importance of protecting the environment and natural resources.

Mr.Obeng Tachie pleaded with the media to participate in educating the public on the need to protect the environment.

He added that, Ghanaians should desist from causing harm to water bodies and soil. He urged farmers to change their farming methods that cause damage to land. He also advised that any method used in extracting natural resources from the soil should be done in a way that protects the environment.

He stressed that, lives depend on natural resources therefore it is a collective responsibility of all Ghanaians to protect the environment.
