Ghana’s U-17 coach, Laryea Kingston, has apologized to the nation after his abrupt resignation following the team’s defeat.

Kingston admitted his handling of the situation wasn’t ideal and offered apologies to the Ghana Football Association’s president and leadership.

The Black Starlets’ loss to Burkina Faso in the WAFU B U-17 Championship semifinals ended their qualification hopes for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations. A visibly upset Kingston then announced he was stepping down.

However, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) reported unprofessional conduct by Kingston, including skipping a team meeting and leaving the team bus on their way back.

Before the team’s third-place match against Nigeria, Kingston expressed remorse for his actions and issued a sincere apology.
