FIFA has confirmed a venue change for Ghana’s penultimate 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic (CAR).

The Group I clash, initially set for El Jadida, will now be staged at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes in Morocco on Tuesday, October 8, 2025, with kickoff at 17:00 hrs (16:00 GMT).

CAR, who are forced to host their home games in Morocco due to the lack of an approved stadium back home, will see their “home advantage” reduced — a situation the Black Stars will be keen to exploit as they edge closer to qualification.

Ghana need just four points from their final two matches — against CAR and Comoros — to confirm a fifth appearance at the global showpiece. A win in Meknes, coupled with a slip-up from their closest rivals, could even secure qualification with a game to spare.

FIFA has also announced the officiating team for the tie: Mauritius’ Patrice Milazare will take charge as centre referee, assisted by compatriot Louis Ralph Fabien Cauvelet and Seychelles’ Shaji Padayachy. Another Seychellois, Noris Aaron Godfrey Arissol, will serve as fourth official.

Senegal’s Fatou Gaye has been appointed referee assessor, Morocco’s Jamal Kaouachi will act as match commissioner, and Nigeria’s Efughu Odochi Joan will serve as security officer.
