First lady touts economic benefits of arts

The First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Akufo has indicated that arts have economic benefits of creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youth across the country.
According her, arts have economic benefits that can be harnessed to create jobs and move the youth up on the economic ladder.
The First Lady made this comment when opened an arts exhibition organized by Melcom Group of companies in Accra.
She took the opportunity to urge the youth to take a second look at the arts industry.
She added that the government of president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is looking at opportunities in the sector to create jobs as part of his social development plan for the country.
On his part, the Director of Communications for  Melcom; Godwin Avenorgbo said if arts is creative why has the country failed to develop it over the years.
According to him, Melcom arts exhibition is an event that will offer opportunities to artists  to create works that can sell Ghana locally and internationally.
He claimed this year’s exhibition will feature many Ghanaian artists who are by the standard of the industry qualify to show their creativity on a national platform such as Melcom’s exhibition.
All the ten artist, Nana Kwesi Agyare Ansah, Seth Alipo, Esther Khaki Ceasar, Daniel Ametepe Kukbor, Ayi Mensah. Others were Osei Bonsu, Isshaq Ismail, Odei Nyamekye and Maxwell Boadi among others exhibited their works at the exhibition
