Five (5) out of the six (6) presidential candidates of the upcoming GFA elections have confirmed their readiness to participate in a debate organized by the Normalisation Committee (NC) of the Ghana Football Association, in partnership with Ghana’s number one station Happy FM, and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

The five (5) candidates are Amanda Clinton, Fred Pappoe, Kurt E.S. Okraku, Nana Yaw Amponsah, and George Ankomah Mensah.
These five candidates would be expected answer questions that seek to elicit solutions-based responses.

The debate scheduled to take place on Monday October 21 at the Physicians and Surgeons Centre in Accra at 6:30 p.m., will be a live radio and television activity for the candidates and this will be carried live on Happy FM 98.9 FM and its affiliate media platforms ( e.TV Ghana, Online and Social Media).

The GFA presidential debate will focus on the candidates’ various plans and policies priorities— particularly reforms, on key areas affecting the development of Ghana football.

Yaw Ampofo Ankrah host of ‘Sports World’ on YFM will coordinate events on the night as with Ohene Bampoe Brenya, the newly elected Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG)Executive Committee member, and host of the Award winning ‘Anopa Busuo’ a sports breakfast show on Happy FM. The other two moderators are Carl Tuffuor of GBC and Nana Aba Anamoah of GHOne Television.

The Normalization Committee has expressed their appreciation for the five candidates who have availed themselves to be part of these novelty initiative.

‘’The Normalization Committee wishes the candidates well and appreciates and applauds their willingness to engage the delegates, football community and the fans and supporters of football with their vision and programs for improving the football enterprise of Ghana.

Their preparedness to debate each other as candidates for the top position of the GFA is refreshing and indicates their embrace of candor and the power of new ideas as essential in the reformation process. Kudos and good luck to the candidates and to a new Ghana Football Enterprise’’ the statement from the NC stated.

Programmes Manager of Happy FM Mr. Emmanuel Akrumah expressed his excitement about the initiative.

‘’This is the first ever football related presidential debate in the world and I am proud that when Happy FM approached the NC with the concept, they bought into it and here we are ready to make history.

This is an opportunity for each participating candidate to present their ideas to delegates and the general public. I wish all the candidates well’’ he said.
