Mr Kwasi Nti, former Adansi Fomena Constituency Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed, receiving Gh¢1Million from NPP Flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong who doubles as Assin Central Member of Parliament.

Kennedy Agyapong during his campaign meeting with some NPP delegates disclosed he single handedly saved the NPP from losing the Majority group position in parliament to their major opponent the National Democratic Congress (NDC) when they convinced the Fomena Independent MP, Lawyer Andrew Asiamah to join them in parliament to form the majority group in Parliament.

Ken Agyapong explained that, the NPP after failing to honour the financial promise they made to the MP as payment of his campaign cost, he step forward to save the party from embarrassment and offered the amount to the man and blocked him from joining the NDC group in parliament, a move he said gave birth to the current majority group in parliament the NPP as party is enjoying.

The former NPP Chairman said, “ the Kennedy Agyapong that I know never tells lies. Everything he said about formena is true. The NPP promised me Gh¢2Million cedis to step down as the party’s chairman after the Fomena MP demanded my resignation. This was part of the conditions he gave the party because he told them that he can’t work with me as his constituency Chairman. You know I was elected Constituency Chairman therefore, the party had to persuade me to step-down as a sacrifice to the party”

Chairman Mr Kwasi Nti explained he demanded Gh¢2Million from the party to settle a debt he incurred as the Fomena constituency chairman during the 2020 general elections before he officially steps down as constituency chairman.

He explained “I was uncertain to consent to the demand of the party but later gave in to the party request. However, NPP did not fulfill the promise they made, even after my resignation they still did not give me the amount they promised “he stressed.

He added “Kennedy Agyapong intervened privately and gave me Gh¢ 1Million to pay my debt and I can swear to you this gesture saved the NPP from major legal battle”
