Fuel Prices to Rise from September 16 — COPEC

The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) has announced that fuel prices are set to increase from Tuesday, September 16, 2025, as the second pricing window opens.

According to COPEC’s projections, petrol will rise by 3.98% to GHS13.61 per litre, diesel by 9.41% to GHS14.08 per litre, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by 7.65% to GHS12.52 per kilogram.

The expected hikes are largely attributed to the sharp depreciation of the Ghana cedi, which lost 8.62% of its value against the US dollar during the review period, sliding from GHS11.03 to GHS12.07. This depreciation, COPEC explained, overshadowed a marginal 0.52% decline in global crude oil prices.

In a statement issued on Monday, September 15, COPEC’s Executive Secretary, Duncan Amoah, urged Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to absorb part of the increases by reducing their margins.

“It is the expectation of COPEC that the various OMCs try to absorb some portions of these upward adjustments in order not to overburden the consumer,” the statement noted.
