The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has dismissed false reports circulating in the media claiming that about 60 percent of applicants who underwent military medical screening tested positive for HIV.
In a press release issued and signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin of the Ghana Navy, Acting Director General of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces on January 25, 2026, , the Ghana Armed Forces described the publication as fake news and urged the public to disregard it.
According to the statement, the medical screening process for applicants is still ongoing, and no results have been officially declared.
GAF stressed that any claims suggesting otherwise are misleading and unfounded.
“The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to state categorically that the publication is fake news and should be ignored by all,” the statement said.
The Armed Forces further indicated that steps are being taken to trace the originators of the false information, describing the story as mischievous and capable of misleading the public.
GAF also used the opportunity to caution media practitioners, particularly content creators, bloggers, and vloggers, to exercise professionalism by cross-checking facts before publishing or sharing information.
