This year’s edition themed, ‘Medical Breakthroughs: Translating Research Into Clinical Practice’, being held at the 37 Military Hospital brought together a number of dignitaries from the Ghana Armed Forces and the 37 Military Hospital to witness the opening of the two-day initiative which is expected to foster development through empirical research and best practices propounded by some of the best minds in the security and medical care sectors.

Chief of Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces and Guest of Honor, Air Vice Marshal Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai acknowledged the groundbreaking research papers that have emerged over the years – and the deep relation it has with the health sector. However, he noted that the period of these studies and extensive analytical papers to move beyond journals is overdue and must be tailored into practical form for development.

“This two-day conference with its blend of poster and oral presentation will provide a unique platform for sharing groundbreaking research and translating into practical solutions that can directly improve medical care, enhance operational readiness and strengthen our National Health System.”

He added that the Scientific Conference will encourage medical professionals “to become professionals that do not only discover but also deliver solutions that meet real needs on the ground.”

Assistant Director of Public Health Division at the 37 Military Hospital, Dr. Phillip Nyinaku in an exclusive interview with happyghana.com’s Kobina Baidoo revealed that this year’s edition of the GAFHS Scientific Conference is the second of its kind and adequately compliments the wide range of achievements made by the Ghana Armed Forces Health Services, the 37 Military Hospital and Ghana’s health sector at large.

In wake of its official opening, Dr. Nyinaku expressed enthusiasm over the display of groundbreaking research and their respective potentials to transform the modus operandi of health care in Ghana. “Throughout this two-day conference we are going to have poster presentations and oral presentations of findings and statistics that will eventually give us a fair idea on the status of Ghana’s health care systems and the way to go in order to enhance it. We have come a long way, looking at when it started in 2024, with just poster presentations but this year we have that and also oral presentations. This evidently shows progress.” he said

The event later broke out into poster presentation session and climaxed Day 1 with an interactive oral presentation for all participants presents to join in establishing a bold new trajectory for medical services and health care delivery in Ghana.

The Ghana Armed Forces Health Services Scientific Conference 2025 scheduled for Wednesday, October 22 to Thursday, October 23, 2025 is set to promote interdisciplinary collaboration in healthcare research between Ghana Armed Forces and the health sector to foster development in Ghana.
