Gays are humans, let’s allow them to be – Freddy Blay to Ghanaians

The National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Freddy Blay, has poured cold water on the anti-LGBTQ+ bill that has been presented before parliament and is awaiting approval.

In his opinion, gays are humans and have to be respected despite their sexual orientation which Ghanaians abhor. He made this comment while in the studios of Accra-based Asaase Radio.

He clarified that although he does not accept their practice, he can’t grasp the hullabaloo Ghanaians have generated to have gays hunted, prosecuted and ostracized.

He said “I don’t believe in homosexuality. It’s a decision. They don’t entice me since I’m not drawn to them. But I’m not interested in going into other people’s bedrooms.

I’m not interested in seeing what they’re up to. I believe that if people want to be gay, it should be their own concern. I will not become a persecutor of those who wish to live together as man and woman. There’s a lot of hypocrisy in it, in my opinion.

And we’ve been ecstatic about it, our emotions have been ecstatic about it to the point that we’re not sober about it. I honestly have no idea what all the fuss is about. He stated, “We should allow them.”
