Newly appointed sporting director of SV Hamburg Ralf Becker is not ruling out the signing of Ghanaian defender Kingsley Schindler in the summer transfer window.
Becker, who has been handed the sporting director role at relegated German Bundesliga side SV Hamburg, is looking to bolster the team in the summer as they bid to bounce back to the Bundesliga at the first time of asking.
At his unveiling, Ralf Becker was asked about speculation linking versatile Holstein Kiel defender Kingsley Schindler to the club.
The 47-year old, who worked with the Ghanaian guardsman at Kiel in the just ended Bundesliga II, did not rule out or deny the report but says he is ready to build a winsome team for the campaign.
“I do not want to exclude anything there.” First of all, I want to consult intensively with coach Christian Titz,” Becker stated.
The 24-year-old netted 12 goals in 33 appearances as the Storks finished 3rd on the Bundesliga II table.
He is reported to on the wish-list of German top flight side Werder Bremen and English Premier League outfit Huddersfield.
His performances have not only opened up the possibility of a transfer to a bigger club but have gained the attention of Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah, however he was not included in the latest 21-man squad for the upcoming double header friendlies against Japan and Iceland.
Schindler is able to play across the right side of the pitch – he qualifies to represent West Africa powerhouse through his Ghanaian parents.
His ability to operate as a wing-back, right midfielder or further forward where he played for much of the campaign will make the Hamburg-born player an attractive option to Appiah.
