GES sets September 27 as reporting date for 2024/25 SHS First-Year students

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the official dates for the reopening and vacation of Senior High Schools (SHS1) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS1) for the first term of the 2024-2025 academic year.

This announcement applies to students who wrote their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) between July 8th and 15th, 2024, and are set to begin their first year of senior high school. The specified dates pertain to the commencement and conclusion of the first term for these students.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) made the announcement through a press release issued by the management of pre-tertiary education, outlining the key dates for the upcoming academic term. The release served as an official notification to students, parents, and stakeholders, providing clarity on the start and end dates for the first term of the 2024-2025 academic year.

According to the press release, the dates are as follows: Reopening date: Friday, 27th September 2024, vacation date: Friday, 6th December 2024

The first term of the 2024-2025 academic year is scheduled to span 70 days, equivalent to 10 weeks of instruction.
