The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the death of Ghanaian soldier, identified as Lance Corporal Omar Abdul Rahman over a land dispute which reportedly occurred in Millennium City, Kasoa in the Central Region.

In a press release issued by the GAF Department of Public Relations, General Headquarters, the killer, one Bernard Ababio (land guard) , in an unprovoked circumstance on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 around 4:20 PM shot killed Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) Omar Abdul Rahman who happened to own the land.

According to the release, the land in question, was under police investigation; hence all parties were advised to stay away from the land till further notice.

However, (L/Cpl) Omar got word of work being done on the prohibited land. Accompanied by two of his colleagues, L/Cpl Danso Michael (Deceased) and L/Cpl Ametus Matthew, they made their way to the land and halted work which was going on at the time.

The release reports that the soldiers who went to file a report at the Millennium City Police Station were confronted by an acclaimed owner of the land and two land guards who gunned down L/Cpl Danso Michael and (L/Cpl) Omar Abdul Rahman who was going to park a vehicle at the police station’s car park.

The body of L/Cpl Danso Michael is currently at the 37 Military Hospital morgue.
