The Deputy Minister for Defence, Brogya Genfi, has announced that the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) will commence a nationwide recruitment exercise this week as part of a three-year expansion programme.

He said the initiative is expected to add 12,000 new personnel to the Armed Forces to boost national defence capabilities.

In a facebook post on Monday, September 29, Mr. Genfi explained that, in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to affordability and fairness, the cost of recruitment forms has been reduced by more than 40 percent compared to the last exercise.

The process, he added, will be conducted across all regions to ensure equal opportunity and inclusion.

He explained recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces is not for sale and will never be for sale under his #EagleEyes watch. He warned that individuals or groups engaged in fraudulent recruitment schemes would face stern action.

He clarified that the recruitment will not take place on social media, but will follow a transparent and professional process. Applicants must be medically fit and prepared for the demands of military life, he said.

He revealed details of qualification requirements, procedures, and regional recruitment centers will be published later this week through the Ministry of Defence and Ghana Armed Forces websites, as well as in selected newspapers and on electronic media platforms.

Mr. Genfi maintained the exercise reflects government’s commitment to building a disciplined, united, and resilient force for Ghana.
