The countdown to Ghana’s biggest celebration of beverage excellence has officially begun. Following a glittering launch event in Accra themed “A Toast to Ten,” the Ghana Beverage Awards (GBA) has officially opened nominations for its landmark 10th anniversary edition, slated to crown winners in 2026.

The launch, held at the premises of Global Media Alliance (GMA) on Wednesday, November 26, brought together leaders, regulators, and industry stakeholders to commemorate a decade of transformative recognition.

With the 10th anniversary logo unveiled, the focus now shifts to the industry’s most vital step nominating the brands and professionals who define quality and innovation in Ghana.

The anniversary is set to be the most rigorous and competitive yet. Professor Charles Tortoe, Chairman of the GBA Technical Committee, assured the audience that the judging process remains committed to its founding principles.
“This year, the stakes are higher. A 10th-anniversary award is a legacy award. The technical committee, is committed to a process that is transparent, scientific, and fair. We will be looking for brands that have not only performed well in the year under review but have demonstrated the consistency befitting a decade of growth”, he stated.

Nominations are open across a diverse range of categories, ensuring every corner of the beverage value chain is covered. These include top product awards like Beer of the Year, Carbonated Soft Drink (CSD) of the Year, New Beverage of the Year, and the coveted Product of the Year an award recently won by the vibrant Bel-Cola in the GBA 2024 ceremony.

A major theme driving the 10th anniversary is sustainability and ESG-aligned practices. Mr. Ernest Boateng, CEO of Global Media Alliance, highlighted the industry’s progress and set a clear mandate for the future.
“Sustainability is no longer an option, it is now a business imperative,” Mr. Boateng stated in his keynote. “The next decade of growth must be anchored on responsible sourcing, eco-friendly packaging, and community investment.”

This focus underscores the importance of the Sustainability Champion of the Year category, which last year honored Voltic Natural Mineral Water for its environmental leadership, setting a high bar for this year’s nominees.

The Manufacturing Company of the Year award, previously held by Twellium Industrial Company Limited, also emphasizes best practices in corporate responsibility and quality control.

Further demonstrating the scheme’s evolution, nominations are also open for categories that celebrate the entire service ecosystem. These include Bar of the Year and Bartender of the Year, which were introduced to spotlight the professionals who bring creative flair to the point of consumption an element critical to the consumer experience.

The official launch signals the start of the nomination window, inviting everyone from beverage enthusiasts to brand managers to ensure their favorite products and companies receive the recognition they deserve. Brands, individuals, and establishments seeking to participate can find the detailed nomination process and category criteria on the official GBA website.

The 10th Ghana Beverage Awards promises to be an unprecedented chapter in the industry’s history, solidifying its role as the national benchmark for quality and inspiring a sustainable future for Ghanaian beverages on the global stage.
