In a momentous ceremony held at the Ghana Christian University College (GhanaCU), a new chapter in education was inaugurated with the official launch of the School of Business and Professional Studies.

Under the inspiring theme of “Elevating Business Leaders with Integrity,” this event was graced by a distinguished guest of honour, Mr. Eric Oduro, the Executive Director of the Chartered Institute of Tax Law and Forensic Accountants, Ghana.

The School of Business and Professional Studies is the culmination of a strategic merger between the School of Professional Studies (SPS) and the Department of Business Studies from the School of Development Management and Health Sciences (SDMHS).

This amalgamation has birthed an institution renowned for its dynamic approach to education, comprising three prominent departments and a professional unit, all dedicated to delivering world-class professional courses and fostering academic excellence and professional growth.

During the ceremony, Rev. Francis Asante, Dean of SDMHS, expressed his gratitude and acknowledged the invaluable support and contributions of Dr. Nelson S. Ahlijah, President of GhanaCU, and Rev. Dr. James Yamoah, Vice President, in the institution’s progress.

He recounted the history of the School of Development Management and Health Sciences and its evolution into a thriving academic institution.

Rev. Francis Asante also acknowledged the visionary proposal for the creation of the School of Business and Professional Studies, highlighting the collaborative effort among faculty members to bring this concept to fruition. He pledged his continued support to nurture and guide the newly born faculty towards independence.

The three distinguished departments at the School of Business and Professional Studies are as follows:

  1. Marketing: Equipping students with the knowledge and skills required to excel in the competitive world of marketing.
  2. Human Resource Management (HRM): Providing a comprehensive understanding of HR practices and strategies for effective talent management.
  3. Accounting: Nurturing future accountants and financial experts through rigorous academic programs.

In addition to these departments, the Professional Unit administers prestigious programs such as ICM-UK and ABE, offering students access to globally recognized professional certifications.

Furthermore, the unit has an exciting development on the horizon: the launch of a Teaching English as a Second Language certificate course, expected to be available before the end of 2023. This unit will also serve as a hub for training and consultancy services, extending its expertise across all academic departments.

As the School of Business and Professional Studies embarks on its journey, it does so with the promise of excellence, integrity, and a commitment to producing ethical and proficient business leaders. The Ghana Christian University College community looks forward to witnessing the growth and success of this exciting new addition to its academic family.
