Chief Executive Officer for Ghana National Gas Company, Dr. Ben K.D Asante, is optimistic gas can be generated in the country in coming years.
According to him, the country has risen to a stage, “where we call the DS size spec stage which will allow us get some sense of surety that yes, now we have this amount of gas that is produced and commercially reliable but for now our gas is coming from offshore.”
Speaking at the Ministry of Information state of the agencies report, Dr. Asante mentioned that, “currently in Ghana, all our source of domestic gas are from the Tano base offshore but, we are hoping to that in not a very distant future, we may be able to find some oil and gas on shore in the voltarian basin.”
He revealed that, “we have some gas coming from Nigeria through the West African pipeline so these are the key sources of our gas today.”
He believes the inauguration of institutional framework to regulate the functions of those who constitute these infrastructure would enable the industry thrive.
