The Ghana Road Contractors Association of Ghana claims it has not received any official communication or offer letter regarding the proposed debt restructuring plan. This comes after Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam revealed that the government had sent letters to private banks and contractors, including road contractors, owing approximately $2.8 billion, inviting them to participate in the debt restructuring process.

In a media interview, the National Chairman for Ghana Road Contractors Association, John Afful has expressed skepticism regarding the government’s claim of owing the group $2.8 billion.

He emphasized that the association has not received any formal proposal or communication regarding debt restructuring, leading him to believe the Minister’s statement may be referring to foreign contractors, not local ones.

According to Mr. Afful, the amount owed to local contractors is significantly less than $1 billion, making their involvement in the debt restructuring unlikely. If approached, however, the group has resolved not to participate in the process.
