Ghana to face Cote d’Ivoire in WAFU Zone B Cup of Nations opener

The WAFU Zone B secretariat has officially unveiled the schedule for the highly anticipated U-17 Cup of Nations, set to take place in Accra, Ghana, from May 15 to May 29, 2024.

The tournament will kick off on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, with the host nation Ghana taking on Cote d’Ivoire at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra. This opening match promises to be an exciting clash between two regional powerhouses.

Defending champions Nigeria are scheduled to face off against Burkina Faso on Thursday, May 16, 2024, in another thrilling fixture. Meanwhile, Togo will lock horns with Niger on the same day, marking the start of the tournament’s Matchday Two.

The WAFU Zone B U-17 Cup of Nations will feature a total of seven participating teams, including reigning champions Nigeria, host nation Ghana, as well as Cote D’Ivoire, Benin, Niger, Togo, and Burkina Faso. These teams will compete for the coveted title and a spot in the upcoming TotalEnergies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

The tournament, which will be held at the University of Ghana Stadium, is set to showcase the best young talents from the region, providing a platform for these aspiring footballers to showcase their skills and compete for continental glory.
