The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Ghana Cricket Association have announced Ghana as host of the ICC Level One Umpires Tutors’ Course scheduled from May 27 to 29, 2025 at the University of Ghana.
The course, under the supervision of the world body seeks to equip participants with necessary skills and knowledge to effectively tutor and mentor cricket umpires in Ghana.
The training would bring together 13 carefully selected individuals across member associations in the sub-region to undergo the certified programme.
Mr. Emmanuel Asare, President of the Ghana Cricket Association speaking in an interview with the media said the course is part of the International Cricket Council’s effort to make cricket a global sport.
He said the course would cover various aspects of umpiring including rules, regulations, best practices and other key areas.
He again stated that the three-day event was a critical component of the ICC’s Education programme, aimed at enhancing capabilities of ICC Africa member nations.
The President urged participants to give the course the needed attention in their quest to support its growth.
The course will be conducted by Master Lauren Agenbag and Thomas Mokorosi who will lead the instructional session.
