The Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL) Accra West Region is taking decisive action against illegal water connections, which have caused revenue losses and service disruptions.

After detecting nearly 1,500 cases across its 12 districts, the company initially gave offenders a grace period to regularize their connections without penalties.

However, with over 800 individuals failing to comply, GWL has now resolved to prosecute non-compliant users in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 4, GWL emphasized that illegal connections are acts of theft that threaten the sustainability of the company.

It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting law-abiding customers and ensuring fair water distribution.

The company is also encouraging the public to report illegal activities to enhance service delivery across Ghana.
