In a nail-biting match, Borteye defeated Rwanda’s Hirwa Chantal 3-2 (11-6, 10-12, 11-8, 8-11, 11-7). She then dominated her match against Uganda’s Nangonzi Judith, winning 4-1 (11-9, 9-11, 11-6, 8-11, 8-11).

Borteye’s exceptional performance has secured her a spot in the quarterfinals, where she will face Nigeria’s Edem Offlong on May 13th.

The 13-year-old prodigy is already a rising star in table tennis. She recently impressed at the African Games in Ghana, and claimed victory at the Otumfuo Smash championship in Kumasi. Borteye’s trophy cabinet also includes a 2023 SWAG award and a silver and bronze medal from the West Africa Regional Championship.
