Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Global Media Alliance (GMA), Ernest Boateng has been named the Vice President of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) for a second term running.

The head of the GMA Group, mother company of e.TV Ghana, Happy98.9FM and YFM (Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi) was sworn in as apart of GIBA’s Executive Council on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at an event at the Association’s office.

He served as Vice President of GIBA from 2017 to 2021, and now will be working closely with the new GIBA’s President Cecil Sunkwa-Mills.

Commenting on his reappointment, Ernest Boateng pledged to work efficiently and effectively with stakeholders to contribute to the growth of the country’s broadcast space, while ensuring sanity in the media space.

Other members serving in the 2021-2024 Executive Council are Abdulai Awudu, Matthew Martin Anderson, Kwabena Amponsah, Kwame Adu-Mante, Prince Hari Crystal.

In addition to his transformative leadership role in the Media and Entertainment sector in Ghana, Ernest has held various management roles around the Globe. He was the Director of Global Business at MasterCard International in the USA with responsibility for Global Business Development in Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America.

He also served as Vice President for Citibank in South Africa with responsibility for 17 non presence countries.

Ernest holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Economics and Philosophy from Dartmouth College.

He currently serves on several boards including the National Film Authority and Chairmanship of Silverbird Entertainment Ghana Ltd.

The Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) is an association of authorised and operational non-state owned, private and independent broadcasting organizations formed to promote members’ common interest. GIBA additionally enhances the utilization of her and members’ resources to make a positive contribution to the Ghanaian society.
