In recent times, entertainers in Ghana have been publicizing that showbiz does not pay. This complain however beats the imagination of other entertainers who have turned out to be successful in the same industry and the reggae-dancehall artiste Shatta Wale is one of such successful personalities in the industry.
Following the statement made by Kofi Asamoah that when it comes to most of the actors and actresses, their wealth is not directly from the movie industry or not the main factor that actually makes them famous, the award winning artiste Shatta Wale was asked whether or not whatever he has is directly from music or other ventures.
Responding to the question on ‘Showbiz Agenda’ with Sammy Flex on Zylofon, the celebrated dancehall artiste stated emphatically that, “I’m one artiste who is ever ready to tell the world that God blessed me through music. I started getting big monies from certain companies as Joy Daddy.”
“I mention a certain amount of money, the people pay me and I feel they respect me for my craft because they know if they give me a show or when i am on a show, i will put it on my social media and promote it so people respect that thing about me. Royalties doesn’t give me money and i’m still waiting for my royalties but then all my money is from music.”
Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr. known by his stage name Shatta Wale is a Ghanaian based producer and reggae-dancehall musician who won the dancehall artiste of the year at the just ended Ghana Music Awards South Africa.
