The former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has criticized the recent decision by the current Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, to dismiss charges against certain NDC officials from the New Patriotic Party regime.

Speaking at a press conference today, Mr. Dame described Dr. Ayine’s action as unprecedented and a violation of proper justice procedures.

He accused the National Democratic Congress administration of orchestrating a plan to absolve all NDC officials of wrongdoing. “The country would note that cases involving Dr. Ayine and other leading members of the NDC were canceled in many of the cases he has discontinued,” he stated.

Mr. Dame further argued that the consistent cancellation of cases for similar reasons, without a thorough explanation, suggests the decision was driven by partisan interests rather than the nation’s welfare. “I dare say, in taking decisions as monumental as withdrawing cases, the only consideration has to be that of national interest and not that of the defense counsel,” he asserted.
