The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has announced that, it has not ended negotiations with the Health Service Worker’s Union.

The Commission is however surprised about the Union’s intent to embark on strike despite ongoing negotiations between them.

“The government team cautioned HSWU that their new demand would prolong the negotiations. However the government team requested HSWU to put their new demand into writing”.

FWSC has however demanded a retraction and an apology from the Health Service Workers Union over their intended strike action.

According to a statement by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission,“On 5th November 2024, HSWU was invited to a meeting on 7th November 2024, only for them to hurriedly issue a press release just hours before the meeting”.

“FWSC is of the view that this is an unfair labour practice and a show of bad faith. We call on the leadership of HSWU to retract the said press release and issue an apology”.

The statement added that, “Threatening and intimidating a party despite all the goodwill that Government has demonstrated amounts to bad faith, and Government cannot be accused of any delays”.

FWSC reiterated its commitment to negotiating with HSWC over conditions of service for its members.

The Health Service Worker’s Union on Thursday November 7, 2024 indicated in a press statement that they will on strike over poor conditions of service.
