The Minister for the Interior, on the advice of the National Security Council and by Executive Instrument, has imposed a curfew on Karaga Township and its environs in the Karaga District of the Northern Region.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior and signed by Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP), the curfew takes immediate effect from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am.
The Government is urging Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and residents of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to resort to non-violent means in addressing the situation to ensure peace.
The statement further announced a total ban on the carrying of arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons within Karaga Township and its surrounding communities.
It warned that anyone found in possession of such items will be arrested and prosecuted.
The measure is part of efforts to restore calm and maintain law and order in the area following recent tensions.
