Meanwhile, the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MoFAD) has lifted the month-long ban on fishing, allowing artisanal fishers to return to sea. This move follows a deliberate pause to replenish dwindling fish stocks and ensure a sustainable future for the industry.

At a symbolic ceremony held at Akplabanya Beach Site in the Ada West District, Greater Accra Region, the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Mavis Hawa Koomson officially declared the sea open for artisanal and inshore fleets.

She urged all stakeholders to join forces in protecting Ghana’s marine resources, marking a new chapter in sustainable fishing practices. Mavis Hawa Koomson appealed to the people of Ada to support the construction of a Premix Automated Centre in their community.
