The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has officially announced the resolution of the migration of Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) members onto the University grades structure, urging CETAG to call off their strike and allow normal academic activities to resume in colleges.
The announcement follows the formation of a Migration Committee on August 29, 2024, comprising representatives from FWSC, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Ministry of Finance (MOF), Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD), Ministry of Education (MOE), and the National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF).
According to a statement from FWSC, the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department successfully migrated CETAG members during the January 2025 payment window, addressing one of the key concerns that led to CETAG’s industrial action.
The statement also noted that, the Research Allowance top-up has also been paid to all colleges, with the exception of the Akrokerri College of Education, which is currently being processed.
“We would like to use this opportunity to commend GTEC, MOF, CAGD, MOE, and PRINCOF for working tirelessly to ensure the concerns of CETAG are addressed”.
FWSC pledged government’s commitment to addressing any post-migration issues and ensuring a harmonious and collaborative approach to resolving CETAG’s concerns.
